Cotton seed are similar in structure to other oilseeds, having an oil-bearing kernel covered by a hard outer hull; in procedure, the oil is extracted from the kernel. In urban areas, used raw as a salad oil, in mayonnaise, dressings, sauces and marinades, frying and is an ingredient in shortenings, margarines, baked goods and icings.
